Impact & Social Return of Investment (SROI)
"You say you add value - prove it!"
SROI is a framework for measuring what matters - the social, environmental and economic benefits of your work. It can produce a statement that says "for every £1 invested in our work we create £y of value."
And it can do much more than that. It puts a value on outcomes experienced by different stakeholders (eg beneficiaries, local authority or PCT) so you can debate internally and with funders the allocation of resources towards specific outcomes. It's a powerful basis for organisational improvement that focuses on what your key stakeholders really value. A key part of SROI is engaging stakeholders so they can voice what's important to them about your organisation's work.
So do you know what you need to measure?
- Is it distance travelled or difference made?
- Is it the quality of your service, your organisation's performance or how many people you've reached?
- Is it responding to funders' requirements or expressing the full value, social, economic and environmental, of your service?
